Who is eligible for the program?

The eligibility for Individual and Family Support was very broadly defined in the legislation, in keeping with the inclusive spirit and intent of the entire movement. Generally, any person with a developmental disability, any child under the age of five at risk for developmental disability, and their families are eligible for supports.

Supports provided to families are intended to strengthen the entire family unit and, as such, do not necessarily have to be for the person with the disability or directly related to the disability.

The same eligibility requirements apply for membership on an Individual and Family Support Council.
